Empirical Industrial Organisation

Leader: Havas Attila

Description of research area

The overall research goal of the group is to examine the organization of individual markets (economic sectors) and the behavior of market participants. The focus of the analysis is on two actors: the company and the state, which influences the markets and the operations of the sectors with policy instruments. The group’s researchers analyze the causes and processes of changes in companies’ management, financing, ownership relationships, size (horizontal and vertical mergers and splits), scope of activities (innovation, separation of activities within and outside the company). Approaches that reveal patterns of economic behavior include both theoretical and empirical research methods.

Group members: Antal-Pomázi Krisztina, Somogyi Róbert
