In an article published by Telex G7, Miklós Koren, professor of economics at CEU, analyses the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the labour market, with a particular focus on the Hungarian IT sector. Although international examples such as layoffs at Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and Fiverr suggest that the use of AI may reduce labour demand, the experiences of domestic professionals are mixed. While AI speeds up routine tasks, it does not replace entire positions, and the role of junior developers remains important. Not only AI, but also the economic situation and stricter recruitment conditions play a role in the slowing labour market trends. In the future, the use of AI may bring new roles and expectations, so continuous learning and adaptation will be key for professionals.
