There is a scientific consensus that the Earth’s climate is changing and becomes warmer so rapidly that it is unprecedented in the history of humankind. Climate change has serious potential impacts on natural and human systems, and it affects Eastern-Central Europe and Hungary as well. To prepare for the impacts of climate change is essential to understand and estimate the possible consequences. Our research includes three projects that aim to advance our knowledge on the effect of temperature on human health, as well as on the impact of global warming. Examining the effect of historical variations in temperature in the last decades on different aspects of human health and combining the results with projections of climate models, we aim to understand and estimate the potential health impacts of climate change in Hungary. Specifically, we will examine the causal effect of ambient temperature on (i) risk of miscarriage, (ii) sleep quantity and (iii) morbidity. In addition, we will project the impacts of climate change by the middle and end of the 21st century.
