The aim of the grant is to examine the spread of industrial robotics in Hungary, with particular emphasis on how robots and artificial intelligence are changing the production and delivery of products and services. The project is led by Gábor Békés, and three experts with extensive experience in the field will join him: Rosario Crinò, Alessandra Bonfiglioli, and Gino Gancia. The goal of the grant is to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the significance of the dissemination process of robotic technologies and the impact of automation on Hungarian businesses and workers. The project will use micro-level data to study the corporate application of robots and solve measurement difficulties that have persisted in the past.
The results of this project will be useful for decision-makers both in Hungary and throughout the broader EU. As robotics and automation continue to shape the economy, it is important to understand their impact on businesses and workers. The study’s findings will provide insights into the main characteristics of the spread of robotic technologies among companies, the consequences of automation from various dimensions of the economy, as well as the possible effects on economic policies. With rich micro-level data, decision-makers can gain information to make informed decisions to balance the benefits of technological advancement with possible disruptions it may cause.
