The main research questions are related to themes involving international competitiveness, wage growth and economic growth. What is the role of foreign direct investment in wage changes? What is the role of sectoral composition in the evolution of competitiveness, both in the short-run and in the long-run? Do we expect the sectoral reallocation induced by the Covid epidemic to be persistent? What explains the divergence between wage growth and productivity growth, and the measurement problems associated with wages? An important goal of the project is to help in answering these questions, and to give guidance to policymakers.
