Revealed Relatedness and Skill-Relatedness networks of Hungary

Description of the methodology used for the calculations can be found:
The Jornal of Technology Transfer – pp 1–36 – First Online: 12 June 2018

The matrices are free to be used for education and research purposes upon referring to the above sources.

Description of the files:

  • Revealed relatedness measures between pairs of 4-digit NACE Rev.2 industries in Hungary for the period of 2003-2012
  • Variables:
    • nace_from, nace_to: 4-digit NACE Rev.2 industries. Only the industrial sectors (NACE: 05-35)
    • RR2003 … RR2012 Revealed relatedness values for the respective year
    • mean_RR: Average value of the Revealed relatedness measure (simple arithmetic average over the years)
  • updated on 04/12/18
  • Skill-relatedness measures between pairs of 4-digit NACE Rev.2 industries in Hungary for the period of 2004-2011 on yearly bases, based on labor mobility of skilled workers
  • undirected network
  • Variables:
    • Source08, Target08: 4-digit NACE Rev.2 industries, all sectors
    • lab_flo_ind: Labor flow between the industries
    • SR Skill-relatedness values for the respective year
  • updated on 04/12/18
  • Skill-relatedness measures between pairs of 4-digit NACE Rev.2 industries in Hungary. Pooled values for the period of 2004-2011, based on mobility of skilled labor.
  • undirected network
  • Variables:
    • Source08, Target08: 4-digit NACE Rev.2 industries, all sectors
    • SRpool_segm123: Skill-relatedness values, pooled for the period of 2004-2012. The values are not the arithmetic averages of the yearly values, but the formula is calculated from the total labor flows of the 2004-2012 period.

Data used for the calculations:

The Revealed Relatedness measures are used form the Hungarian Prodcom database, using the research room of the Central Statistical Office of Hungary.

The Skill-relatedness measures were calculated using the „Hungarian administrative data integration database” of the Databank of the Centre for Regional and Economic Studies, Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
